GATEWAY HISTORY

In the Beginning…

A great deal of information regarding the exact nature of the Gateway is unknown. The planet it is located on (Retaria VII) is located deep within RA space inside the Comandia Nebula. Warp shallows are also present within the Nebula. As a result, the planet's location is largely unknown to the general population of the universe since this region of space is hardly traveled. Whoever designed the Gateway has long since departed from the planet. It is believed that this race was developed well beyond that of Starfleet due to the high level of technology required to create the Gateway. It is hoped that one day, the creators of the Gateway will one day return to our dimension or they will be encountered in order to learn more about them.

The Gateway's existence became known to Starfleet when the group known as the Conclave used it to flee from our universe after their defeat of conquering our dimension. The Conclave discovered the Gateway in their own dimension while enslaving all known races. Still searching for worlds to conquer, they arrived through the Gateway into our universe over 300 years ago where they established a base on the abandoned planet. Their leader (The Master), found himself unable to move in this world due to a time paradox. His counterpart in our universe (Cmdr Drax), had yet to reach the same level of development and as a result of this inconsistency he began to mold Drax's development to mirror his own in order to become active once more. Once this had been achieved, the Conclave became active and began their assault on our universe.

The Conclave was eventually defeated by Starfleet, but the Master and a few remaining agents retreated back to Retaria VII and escaped using the Gateway to an unknown destination. Upon discovering of the Master's escape, Cmdr Drax sought Starfleet Council permission to seek out his counterpart and the Conclave agents. Assigned an elite group of officers, they ventured deep into RA space to Retaria VII and the Gateway.

Upon arrival, they began to retrofit the combined Conclave/Ancient City they found with Starfleet technology and to study the Gateway before it could be used. Great care was undertaken to ensure safe travel of the crew and to avoid time paradoxes. With the study complete, the team now stands ready to venture through the Gateway to stop the Conclave.

It has also been discovered through monitoring the system logs that a number of people have entered through the Gateway to other worlds in the past, perhaps not of their own violation. The Gateway at times has become unstable and pulled nearby ships through it.

 Recently…

The Gateway crew calls it the turning point in history. When the boarders of time and space seemed to collapse around them.

It Started with the portal showing signs of instability, causing the control console to act strangely. The executive officers arrived to see what was wrong but was greeted by a secret chamber opening in the ancient city leading to large catacombs far under the outpost. In those rooms contained an immense archive of information of weapons, technology, history of the Gateway Creators and of a alien race never heard of before.

During this time, in orbit was a unknown vessel who started a bombardment of the Gateway facility. The USS Forsaken launched to protect Gateway and stop the strange and hostile vessel. But the Forsaken was ill prepared to face such a enemy and was destroyed with all hands on board when on its last leg mad an attempt to ram the vessel and succeeded in damaging the ship’s systems which prevented it from continuing the bombardment and saved the catacombs beneath the city. The officers remained safe in the catacombs beneath the surface.

When the officers emerged, they found the outpost along with the Gateway Portal destroyed. Armed with the knowledge and technology obtained from the catacombs, they followed these hostile invaders through the new Gateway Portal to someplace unknown. But after going through the portal it closed up. Trapping the Gateway crew in what ever horror they ended up. They are now completely on their own…
