 Won't let himself be pushed around, although only uses force where necessary, likes to think that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

Family:

 Tobias and his brother were both Orphans, there parents reported killed in a shuttle accident.
  Brother: Brian Mitchell - Elder Brother, took on job of looking after his younger brother (Tobias was only a toddler at time of shuttle accident), even when care was there to help them, Very protective. Currently assigned to the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards where he is Chief of Security

 Too many to list, Tobias makes friends easily, many friends were however left behind at Utopia Planetia, where he and his big brother had a "bro" thing going

Additional:

 Although he doesn't admit to it much, it was his input that has led to many new inventive designs for support craft, and much of the Gateway's support craft are based upon his ideas, the main reason for his being assigned to the Gateway crew.
