Welcome, Cadet,

This is the third and last level of your training. On previous levels you have learnt how to write posts, and there is only one thing that left for you to learn: adding your own ideas to a plot and creating situations. So far you have been replying to tags and rewriting given situations from your own perspective. Now it is time to become more active and CREATE a situation, using skills you have already acquired.

There were plenty of Cadets waiting for their last assignments in the simulator. As I looked into all their young, eager faces, I reflected on my own experience on my last assignment. It was with a Vulcan instructor, and I had impressed him with my knowledge of the language. One particular person, however, seemed to be more prepared than the others. I walked over to the Cadet, and caught their eye.  "Cadet, you do not seem as nervous as the others," I said.

"Then you hide it well," I added, with a smile for assurance. “All you need to do is remember all your training.”

"Training only goes so far though, sir." Cadet Warren approached us. “I mean, you need a good gut instinct to be a Starfleet officer.” “Gut instinct,” I said, reflecting on the phrase for a second. “I can’t say I completely agree with you, although I understand your sentiment. What do you think, Cadet?”

"Right, intuition. It's helpful, you can't deny that," she said triumphally.

I thought about her statement, and added, “The Academy training program is designed so that you have a good base to start from. So maybe memory, rather than intuition, is the real winner there.”

Assignment #3

You have a beginning of a post below. Your task is to reply to my tags and then continue the talk (ask questions, make observations, anything you wish - it is you who is "in charge" of the situation now), leaving tags for me. You will also notice there is an additional character: it's Cadet Helen Warren. Try to include her into the conversation.

Treat her as a PC and leave tags for her. Generally your task is to create a situation, where there are 3 participants. It depends on you what will happen next, but remember not to interfere into other characters too much.

What I want for this scenario is for you to leave tags for me to respond to. I’ll comment on the scenario, depending on where you head. If it looks like you still need more practice, I’ll ask you to continue the scenario for one more post.

When completed mail it to me at whiteschwoch@comcast.net
