    [ In Memory ]

The Federation has seen many members come, and go, and often return over the years.  But this year (2006) we lost a valued member in the worst way.  Jacob DeLude who played Lieutenant Commander Mike Hunt was taken from us at a young age while serving his country.  We dedicate this page to Jacob and any other members we may have lost in the past that we are not aware of.

As someone who is about to become a Father for the first time, I can only imagine the pain of losing a child.  I would personally like to thanks Jake's Dad, Ray for informing us about what happened to his son and offer to Jake's family and friends our condolences and prayers.

Ray's message to us is as follows:

This is Jacob's father I am using his account to send you this unfortunate news. (He is Mike hunt). Jake served in the national guards and was in Iraq and was killed in the line of duty. He died about 2 months ago and that is why he has not been posting. I am in the process of closing out all of his personal affairs. His brother requested LOA for him until I could get around to doing this myself. I want you all to know that he liked playing this game with all of u and we miss him very much. Thank you and good luck.

To celebrate the life of Jake and his impact on the Federation his friend Commander Tom Pairs has created "Hunt Memorial Military Service" Ribbon.  This ribbon will serve to honor Jake's memory and ensure that his spirit will live on for members of this organization and for his family.

Some members offered to say a few words about Jake.

Cmdr Tom Pairs

CO

USS Manetheren

"Mike will be remembered. He was a great Officer and Friend. He served his country and Ship Proudly. There have been replies to the message that we should do something to honor him. An Award or something. I think maybe we could get a scholars ship made in his name or something.

Thoughts feeling's Ideas list them here. This is the saddest news that any ship or family could get.

Rest in Peace Mike."

LtCmdr Ryan Grey

CEO

Gateway

"Rest in peace Mike, he was the best friend I had while on the Manth. Sorry to know we can't cause the rest of the crew trouble anymore."

LtCmdr Lucilla Grey

CMO

Gateway

"My condolences to his family. RIP, Mike."

LtCmdr Steve Vreeland

CEO

USS Manetheren

In best maritime traditions,

"May the wind alwaysbe at your back Jacob Delude. Rest in peace my friend."

Lt William Raymer

CIO

DS13

"I may not have served with him, for my characters are on DS13 and his was on the Manetheren, but I can tell you this much: I would have been damn proud to write alongside him."

LtCmdr Devor Roush

CO

USS Guernica

"I considered Jacob to be a good friend. He always showed concern for those around him and was a good example to all."

I think his crewmate and friend LtCmdr Alexander Wu, CMO USS Manetheren says it best:

"Though you're physically gone, you will always live on in the Federation Mike. You won't be forgotten.

Lay down your sweet and weary head
Night is falling,
you have come to journey's end.
Sleep now,
and dream of the ones who came before.
They are calling
from across the distant shore.

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
all of your fears will pass away,
safe in my arms
you're only sleeping.

What can you see
on the horizon?
Why do those white gulls call?
Across the sea
a pale moon rises --
The ships have come to carry you home.

Dawn will turn
to silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass.

Hope fades
into the world of night
through shadows falling
out of memory and time.
Don't say,
"We have come now to the end."
White shores are calling
you and I will meet again.

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping.

What can you see
on the horizon?
Why do those white gulls call?
Across the sea
a pale moon rises --
The ships have come to carry you home.

And all will turn
to silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west.

Rest in peace Jake and know that you were loved by your family and friends and that your spirit lives on in the Federation.

Rest in peace Jake.
